Hemp cannabinoids and hormonal balance
Hemp cannabinoids, such as CBD, CBG and others, support the proper functioning of the body's endocannabinoid system. It is known to play a key role in maintaining cellular homeostasis, or our internal balance, and to establish this balance by influencing all other body systems.
Thus, the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS) also influences, among other things, the body's hormonal system. The latter is composed of endocrine glands that secrete chemical messengers or hormones. For example, the effects of the ECS (and thus cannabis cannabinoids) on reproductive system hormones, thyroid hormones, and stress hormones are known.
CBD and reproduction
The ECS, for example, plays an important regulatory role in the secretion of hormones related to reproduction. Therefore, supporting the endocannabinoid system with cannabis cannabinoids may also support the body in recovery in the event of problems in the functioning and health of the reproductive system, such as menstrual cycle disorders, fertility problems, endometriosis, cervical cancer, etc. In cervical cancer, for example, CBD has the potential to reduce the invasiveness of tumor cells in a dose-dependent manner and reduce the growth/reproduction of tumor cells. It also supports apoptosis - the so-called cell death of cells that could otherwise develop into cancer. For example, when solving infertility problems, long-term support of the endocannabinoid system with cannabinoids such as CBD (and all other necessary measures) is beneficial in order to restore the overall balance of the body, since it is known that in an exhausted, poisoned, stressed body there are no suitable conditions for conceiving a new life.
CBD and the thyroid
Consuming cannabis cannabinoids also has a supportive effect in cases of thyroid disorders. For example, in cases of an overactive thyroid, so-called hyperthyroidism (Graves' disease), a problem caused by excessive secretion of thyroid hormones, which is manifested by accelerated metabolism, rapid digestion, restlessness, rapid heartbeat, weight loss, etc., taking cannabis cannabinoids supports the body in regulating the secretion of thyroid hormones. CBD also has a beneficial effect on reducing accompanying symptoms and thus supports the body, for example, in calming heart rhythm disorders and reducing anxiety.
If the thyroid gland does not secrete enough hormones and related problems occur, such as Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, the symptoms of which are fatigue, drowsiness, slow metabolism, sensitivity to cold, pain in the joints and muscles, taking cannabinoids also makes sense. Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the thyroid tissue, which produces thyroid hormones. Due to inflammation and tissue destruction, hormones are becoming less and less. By taking CBD (and also CBG), the body is supported not only in better functioning of the ECS, but also in calming the harmful activity of the immune system and the resulting inflammation of the thyroid tissue. Both cannabinoids have anti-inflammatory potential and the potential to calm an excessive immune response.
CBD and stress management
CBD can significantly support us in calming stress hormones and preventing burnout and burnout. Lack of energy, fatigue, headaches, high blood pressure, digestive disorders, blood sugar disorders, decreased immunity, insomnia, irritability, hypersensitivity, concentration and memory disorders, anxiety, fear, withdrawal, helplessness, depression, poor thyroid function ... and last but not least, poor work performance, are many of the faces of burnout. Burnout, which is a sign of physical and mental exhaustion, develops gradually and can be the result of the sum of numerous stressors both at work and at home or in society.
Although acute stress is beneficial and can be helpful to us, this is not the case with chronic stress. Stress triggers the “fight or flight” reaction in the body. This initially protects us, but if stress becomes chronic, it harms us. During this reaction, stress hormones (e.g. cortisol) are released in the body and the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated. The consequences are increased blood pressure, accelerated heart rate, rapid and shallow breathing, increased muscle tension, increased blood sugar, increased sensory sensitivity, anxiety and many others. All of this helps us to respond appropriately to acute stress. In the case of chronic stress, however, it prevents us from functioning normally. The longer the stress lasts, the less we can function normally physically, mentally, socially and spiritually! The consequences can be many of the problems already listed.
CBD is definitely a welcome support in managing acute or chronic stress, but we must not forget to simultaneously eliminate the causes for long-term success. Because how effectively we manage stress also depends on who we are or what our attitude is towards our own needs – physical, psychological, social and spiritual. For example, if we eat high-quality, healthy food, drink enough water, get enough sleep, rest, relax, know how to UM-calm ourselves, constructively solve problems as soon as they arise, CBD will show results very quickly. And vice versa: if our lifestyle is not the best, CBD will of course also be a good support, but it will probably take more time and higher doses of CBD for the situation to stabilize.
By consuming CBD, we support the functioning of the body's endocannabinoid system, which makes it easier and better to perform its tasks. Since the latter also include regulating the body's response to stress, calming the body's stress reaction, calming anxiety and helping to erase the memory of fear of a stressful situation, CBD can also help us manage stress. In addition, CBD may also help to calm many of the consequences of stress, such as high blood pressure, headaches, insomnia, the aforementioned thyroid problems, etc. What's more, it can also help prevent and overcome everyday stressful situations.
So, by consuming CBD before a stress reaction hits us, we help the body to “smoothly” handle a stressful situation, without serious deviations. This use of CBD has already proven itself in the case of overcoming the stress of public speaking (Cannabidiol reduces the anxiety induced by simulated public speaking in treatment-naïve social phobia patients. Bergamaschi, MM et al.). Taken before an event, it reduces general anxiety, clears thoughts, focuses ..., which means that performing such work is less stressful and tiring and therefore also of higher quality.
