Pneumonia and CBD
Pneumonia and treatment
CBD Of course, it is not a cure for severe pneumonia, such as that caused by the SARS-CoV2 virus, but as the latest research shows, it may still support the body and thus make it easier to overcome respiratory inflammation associated with a "cytokine storm."
Cytokine storm is a severe inflammation that results from the excessive production of immune cells and inflammatory cytokines. The result of such an excessive immune response can be more severe damage to the body's own tissues. The SARS-CoV2 virus is also said to cause this type of inflammation in the lungs in some cases. The raging cytokine storm in the lungs results in damage to lung tissue (damaged lung alveoli), edema, and collapse of the lungs with severe respiratory distress and a drop in blood oxygen levels.
Since official medicine does not yet have an effective cure for COVID-19, it is good to know which natural remedies have the potential to support us in overcoming mild (and possibly serious) inflammation in the lungs. Among such, in addition to American strawman and vitamin C also belongs CBD.
Recent research, published in September this year, which was conducted on mice (1), reveals that pure CBD helps the lungs recover after severe inflammation or cytokine storm and supports the blood's oxygen supply. CBD decreased fever and inflammatory cytokine levels, and increased blood oxygen levels. More detailed lung analyses showed that structural lung damage, such as overgrowth, scarring, and swelling, were completely or partially healed after CBD administration. The researchers conclude that CBD a potential protective role during acute respiratory stress, which could qualify it as a COVID-19 therapy, as it calms the cytokine storm, protects lung tissue and reduces inflammation. CBD is also thought to calm the excessive response of the immune system because it is a molecule that is very similar to endocannabinoids. This means that CBD was used to support the body's natural cell signaling system (the endocannabinoid system), which we now know is involved in many body functions, including sleep, reproduction, inflammation ... and not just the immune response.
