What affects the effectiveness of CBD
In order to get the most out of consuming cannabis preparations, it is good to know what influences the effectiveness of CBD (CBG) preparations.
Natural or synthetic
There is growing evidence that natural cannabis extracts (especially natural cannabinoids in a mixture of other cannabis compounds) are superior to synthetic cannabinoids, which are less potent, require higher doses to produce benefits, and are more likely to cause side effects.
Therefore, before use CBD drops or other preparations with CBD, check the origin of the cannabinoids in the preparation, or buy from trusted providers.
Buying cannabinoid preparations from unknown or unverified providers is problematic for the following reason: It is possible that manufacturers add synthetic cannabinoids to natural cannabis products (e.g. dried flower or other preparations) or "enrich" them with them. Experience with the use of such preparations (e.g. natural cannabis flowers sprayed with synthetic THC) is not good, so researchers They warn against them. They report dangerous side effects in users of such preparations, including violent behavior and suicidal thoughts.
Many medical uses of synthetic cannabinoids in the treatment of various diseases have also led to a dead end. For example, the synthetic cannabinoid in the preparation Rimonabant did not yield the desired results in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It had to be abandoned due to severe side effects. You can learn more about why synthetic cannabinoids do not provide the desired effect in professional education Cannabis and the cardiovascular system Dr. Tanja Bagar.
Raw material quality
Hemp is a soil purifier, so it is essential that it is grown in organic fields and not treated with toxic chemicals and artificial fertilizers, as these will otherwise be present in traces in the extracts. As a result, the overall effect of such preparations will be worse, as they will also unnecessarily burden the body.
To prove the purity of the basic raw material, producers must possess either a certificate of organic hemp production or other evidence that guarantees the purity of hemp and its preparations. Preparations CBDex, for example, are provably GMO-free, gluten-free, suitable for vegans, allergen-free according to (EU) 1169/2011, Annex II, non-irradiated, pesticide-free and herbicide-free. You can also ask them to see the certificates without hesitation.
Synergy of active ingredients
Preparations that contain only a single synthetic cannabinoid (or a cannabinoid isolated from natural extracts) have a lower potency compared to preparations from natural extracts, which contain a broad or full spectrum of cannabinoids present in cannabis.
So far, we know of more than 140 cannabinoids. According to previous research, removing the other cannabinoids naturally present in cannabis (CBG, CBN, etc.) reduces the effectiveness of the CBD preparation. Different cannabinoids work synergistically – meaning that the effect of each cannabinoid in a group with the others is greater than the effect of each individual cannabinoid.
If the extract contains other beneficial substances (terpenes, flavonoids) in addition to a broad or full spectrum of cannabinoids, they will also enhance the final effect of the preparation.
It is understandable, however, that in certain professions (or for other reasons), the cannabinoid THC is not desirable in a CBD preparation, even if it is in the legally permitted amount. If you need this cannabinoid not to be in a CBD extract, choose from natural broad-spectrum hemp extracts from which only the cannabinoid THC has been removed. The beneficial effect will still be almost the same due to the presence of all other cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes. Such extracts are often sought after by healthcare workers, police, military personnel, etc. Parents who want to use CBD to support their children or pets prefer to use them. Many also prefer them because there is still an unjustified fear of the cannabinoid THC. It is also welcome for those who need higher doses of CBD and do not want to feel the unpleasant or disturbing effects of THC. By increasing the CBD dose, the amount of other components present in the extract also increases.
Processing method
The effect of a CBD preparation is also influenced by the processing of the cannabis. For example, alcohol extraction is superior to CO2 extraction, as it is said to extract a wider spectrum of cannabinoids from the flowers, as well as an abundance of terpenes and flavonoids, which improves the effectiveness of the preparation due to the aforementioned synergy between the various active ingredients. Therefore, one way to ensure that you are consuming an effective preparation is to check how it was obtained beforehand.
It is also possible to get CBD preparations obtained by distillation on the market. These are mostly isolated CBD (or THC) without other cannabinoids or other active ingredients. You will mostly consume such isolated CBD with CBD chewing gums, candies, cookies, chocolates. It can also be found in inhalation preparations and elsewhere. Since by using such preparations we only deliver a single cannabinoid to the body, the effect will be less than if we consume a preparation that contains, in addition to CBD, the rest of the spectrum of cannabinoids and other active ingredients present in cannabis.
Method of administration
Some of the effects of CBD drops are lost if they are swallowed immediately. Therefore, it is optimal to place the drops under the tongue and wait a few minutes for them to be absorbed directly into the blood through the mucous membrane of the mouth. This way, the cannabinoids will circulate in the bloodstream within a few minutes and support the entire body.
It is also a good idea to carefully read the instructions on how to take each preparation before use. In the case of CBD oil drops, it is also a good idea to shake them before taking them. More about the methods of taking.
Dose level
When our balance is out of whack and we get sick, the SOS system is activated, which restores us to balance or health. The condition, of course, is that the SOS or The body's endocannabinoid system (ECS) is working well.
When the ECS is functioning poorly, cannabis cannabinoids can improve it. In addition to everything written above, finding a dosage of cannabinoids that is tailored to the individual is crucial to how effective cannabinoid support will be. Since everyone's lifestyle is different, the dosage of CBD, CBG, or any other cannabinoid must also be individually adjusted. Those with a poor quality lifestyle (too little sleep, poor diet, a lot of mental or physical stress, a body burdened with aluminum, mercury, or other toxic substances, the presence of chronic diseases, etc.) deplete the ECS more, so they will need stronger cannabinoid support to restore optimal ECS functioning than those with a fairly good lifestyle.
To find the optimal dose, it is therefore necessary to start with a minimum dose that is appropriate for the problem and gradually increase it to the desired effect.
Frequency and duration of taking
The presence of CBD in the body is lost after 6–8 hours of oral intake (e.g. CBD oil drops). To ensure the necessary effect, it is necessary to maintain the presence of CBD in the body, which is why it is dosed 2 times a day. The length of intake varies depending on the type of problem. For mild problems, try taking it for 3 months first. After a week's break, you can continue if necessary.
