Regeneration - can our body do it?
Regeneration and the body
Vacation is supposed to be the time when we take a break from everyday stress and enjoy life. Regeneration of mind and body. Otherwise, the thought that only then can we really enjoy life is quite shocking. But for many people, this is a time they look forward to, to remove themselves both physically and mentally from the stressful work environment. That they can finally devote themselves completely to their family and themselves.
This leap is sometimes not so easy. People relax slowly, for some it is more difficult to disconnect work from the thought process and the tension drags on for a long time after the start of the vacation.
Do you know that feeling? Or even get sick as soon as your vacation starts? But maybe you are like me, when the vacation is always more active, because otherwise I would be bored?
Here we come to the question, how quickly do we regenerate after activities, after rowing on a sup or kayak, after running along the coast, after climbing or swimming? How quickly can our body restore balance after stress and exertion?
Our cells are exposed to great strain every day. The organelle that supplies cells with energy is the mitochondrion. We still don't know its origin. One of the main functions of mitochondria is to use sugars and amino acids, which they turn into a form of energy called adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which the cell can then use. The goal of processes carried out by mitochondria is always homeostasis - maintaining a stable internal environment despite external changes. It is also a target of the endocannabinoid system, which works closely with the mitochondria.
Cannabinoids and regeneration
The mitochondrial process of energy production or cellular respiration must be balanced, as free radicals can also be produced at the same time, which causes oxidative stress. Free radicals or ROS (reactive oxygen species) cause damage to the genetic code, cell membrane, proteins and other organelles.
Reducing oxidative stress and neutralizing free radicals is thus crucial for our health and regeneration. Oxidative stress is a natural byproduct of mitochondrial activity as it triggers an essential cellular cleanup when it is at low levels (autophagy). If it is too high, the cells receive a signal that they must die (apoptosis). If there is no balance between these two processes, we end up with a wide range of disease states.
Aging, degeneration of the nervous system, metabolic disorders, cancer are all related to these processes. Cannabinoids however, they are known precisely for the fact that they establish a balance between cells and regulate oxidative stress, which is why they are also known in allopathic medicine as very good antioxidants.
Especially the combination CBD and CBG has extraordinary potentials in the regeneration of damaged tissues. The synergy of these two cannabinoids also works perfectly on soft tissues, such as bladder, breast, intestines, skin, prostate. However, they work perfectly to calm the nervous system and improve sleep.
Cannabinoids can trigger autophagy when it is needed or apoptosis if the cell can no longer function normally (eg cancer). The natural state of our body and cells is in constant regeneration, but lifestyle and toxicity disrupt these processes. When we get sick, we know that the processes of purification and degradation have overtaken the processes of regeneration.
Cleansing treatments, special diets and regeneration
Therefore, sometimes it is not surprising that we get sick when we embark on a cleansing cure or special diets. That's when we need to restore the balance between cleansing and regeneration. With cannabinoids, we do this quickly and efficiently. At the same time, it is important to support it with enough fatty acids, which make up all cell membranes, nervous systems, hormones, etc., so it does not make sense to avoid healthy fats.
Fats are necessary building blocks for regeneration, without which it is difficult to maintain balance at the cellular level. Just why have we been sold the idea that fats are bad for us? Yes, those thermally processed, transgenic fats that are industrially processed with chemicals, those are not good for us.
But cold-pressed olive oil, flaxseed oil, hemp oil, coconut oil, raw butter, avocado, shea butter, cocoa butter, black cumin oil, etc… these are the fats our bodies are crying out for. Fats were worth their weight in gold to our ancestors.
These fats are also important because they help remove toxins from the body so that they do not accumulate in the body, e.g. on some organs (fatty liver) or in fat rings around the abdomen, thighs, arms or chest. Have you ever wondered why it's so hard to lose weight? Why do some diets make me feel terrible? Because toxins are released from fatty tissues into the bloodstream and organs, and from there, if you are sufficiently supported, out of the body. But if we don't support ourselves properly, toxins can go back into the cells, organs and brain.
These processes are so small that we are not even aware of them. Correct understanding allows us to find a good solution for us. A healthy mind in a healthy body, we say. Both go hand in hand.
Regeneration also includes adequate rest after exertion or stress. This means that we take time for ourselves every day and spend it in a way that allows us the best regeneration and relaxation. For some it will be a run and sleep, for others it will be meditation and a walk, and for others it will be healthy meals. Good sleep is essential for mental and physical regeneration. I remember a study where a cat was woken up after certain time intervals and the cat died from this stress. Imagine how stressful the postpartum period is when our schedule completely changes. That's when synergy comes into play CBD and CBG.
My experience with regeneration
I myself try to juggle between all these processes to somehow establish a balance despite external stress and circumstances. Everyone finds something for themselves.
When we mention oxidative stress and the ability to regenerate, two more medicinal mushrooms come to mind: CHAGA and CORDYCEPS.
CHAGA is known for being the most effective antioxidant on the list. With its active ingredients, it protects the genetic code and cells from free radical damage. It is important mainly because it offers protection to mitochondrial DNA, which is different from cellular DNA. It also contains betulinic acid, which is extremely important in selective cytotoxic action (cancer cells).
CORDYCEPS otherwise known as a sexual stimulant, it basically increases the production of ATP, which is created with the help of mitochondria and the process of cellular respiration. As a result, the ability to regenerate after heavy exertion or stress increases. That's why they like to recommend it to athletes. It is also a well-known antioxidant that protects cells from radiation, which is a big problem today, especially in cities and blocks of flats.
If we manage to establish a balance between the cleansing and regeneration processes, we will stay healthy and not run out of energy. If we tip the scale to one side or the other, the body will react with an illness that will stop us and initiate the appropriate processes to restore balance. Our job is to recognize these moments and support each other to the best of our abilities. Of course, we also improve these abilities through education, because an important part of health is precisely our mental understanding of the body and observing ourselves.
My own experience with many disease states forced me to listen to my body and to want to understand the processes. Mere observation was not enough until I developed a good understanding of these processes. Regeneration is necessary. I had to forget what we were taught in school and what we took as general knowledge in order to find the right solutions. All these processes enable a new perspective on the world and health, and above all, a lot of humility, when I became aware of the intelligence of the body and all its processes and how much I influence these processes with my thoughts. From here comes full responsibility for my own health.
